Whether the 30-Hour Famine is an annual affair for you, or you have never participated in one before!
Your participation will help alleviate the impacts of climate change and stop hunger in its tracks for those living in poverty. We can’t wait for you to join us.

DIY Camps are back!

You can choose to participate as an Individual Participant or join a “Do-It-Yourself” (DIY) Camp for the full Famine experience.
If you’re up for a challenge, you can also choose to be a 30-Hour Famine DIY Camp Leader! DIY Camps will be limited to 100 people and can be organised
in-person or virtually.

Camper / Individual

Campers, also known as Famine Fighters, can participate in the 30-Hour Famine as an Individual Participant or join a DIY Camp of their choice.

After signing up, you will receive an email from World Vision Malaysia containing your online fundraising profile and login details. Share your customised link with family and friends, and invite them to support the cause. Raise a minimum of RM100 to receive the official 30-Hour Famine 2022 T-shirt.

You will fast for 8 hours or 30 hours, depending on your participation type. You can choose to fast from solid food, beverages (aside from water), or meat consumption. You will also engage in meaningful and educational activities to learn more about global issues! 

The celebration is an experience you won’t want to miss! Join thousands of Famine Fighters from across the nation on for an exciting line-up of programmes!  

Camp Leader

Step up and organise your own DIY Camp! You’ll polish your leadership skills, make new friends and discover how meaningful advocacy can be when you do it as a team.

To be a Camp Leader, you need to be:

18 years old or above

Able to motivate and inspire 

Here’s what you will have to do as a Camp Leader:

  2. 8-Hour Kidz Famine
    A child-friendly version of the 30-Hour Famine for those aged 12 and below, complete with age-appropriate activities
  3. 8-Hour Family Famine
    This is for all the families who want to participate together. No age limit applies

Assemble your team (you’ll need a reliable and responsible team!) and attend the training workshop together. As a team, you’ll learn what the 30-Hour Famine 2022 will bring, how to run your DIY Camp and gain insider tips on keeping your Campers engaged. The Camp Leaders Training Workshop will take place between April and May – more details will be shared in due time! 

You will recruit Campers, plan your DIY Camp and put your plans into action for an unforgettable experience!

Our programmes are customisable so you will have the freedom to plan your Camp anytime and anywhere, in-person or virtually, and infuse your personal touch. You will also have the opportunity to flex your creative muscle and present the 30-Hour Famine message to your Campers in your own way to allow for a Camp like no other!

The World Bank estimates that between 2021 and 2022, roughly 2.7 million additional Sri Lankans have fallen into poverty. According to the World Food Programme’s latest food security assessment of Sri Lanka in 2022, three in 10 households across the country face food insecurity.

3 major factors

affecting livelihoods:

Lack of technology, skills and resources for sustainable livelihoods
A lack of agriculture facilities, technology and skills lead to poor harvests, meagre incomes and reduced food purchasing power
Lack of capacity to respond to natural disasters
Droughts, floods and COVID-19 can disrupt the livelihoods of vulnerable families
Inability to meet food needs
Those with no job opportunities or low household income are unable to meet their minimum food requirements

Apart from food insecurity, families with insufficient household income are unable to pay for their children’s education, health needs and more
Many relocate to find work
Low levels of education and a lack of livelihood skills have caused many to move away from home to work as daily wage workers
