WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Thank you for signing up with us as a Famine Fighter! You are now officially part of the 30-Hour Famine family! We are excited to have you on board and we cannot wait to have you journeying with us together this year! Here’s what you can expect after you have signed up with us:

You will receive an email from World Vision Malaysia with your online fundraising profile and login details. Use your customised link to invite your friends and family to donate to the cause.
The 30-Hour Famine Fighter e-Guidebook will be sent to you via email.
  1. Individual Fighter
    You may arrange a time to complete the Individual Challenge on your own, learning more about the focus topics of the year through interactive activities in the comfort of your home. Don’t forget to tag us on social media @my30hourfamine and share what you have learned through the activities!

  2. Friends & Family (F&F) Fighter
    Join the physical or virtual F&F Challenge organised by your F&F Leader and carry out the activities together! If you don’t have an F&F Leader yet, why not sign up as one yourself and invite your friends and family to join your F&F Challenge?
  3. Community Fighter
    Join the physical or virtual Community Challenge organised by your Community Leader and carry out the activities together! If you don’t have a Community Leader yet, click here to search for a Community Challenge that is suitable for you!

When you have successfully met the fundraising target of RM100, you will receive a T-shirt information form via email. Submit the form with your details and expect to receive your 30-Hour Famine T-shirt via courier service in two weeks’ time.

*In light of the Full Movement Control Order (FMCO), T-shirts will only be shipped out after the FMCO is lifted and may take up to two weeks to reach you.

The World Bank estimates that between 2021 and 2022, roughly 2.7 million additional Sri Lankans have fallen into poverty. According to the World Food Programme’s latest food security assessment of Sri Lanka in 2022, three in 10 households across the country face food insecurity.

Lack of technology, skills and resources for sustainable livelihoods
A lack of agriculture facilities, technology and skills lead to poor harvests, meagre incomes and reduced food purchasing power
Lack of capacity to respond to natural disasters
Droughts, floods and COVID-19 can disrupt the livelihoods of vulnerable families
Inability to meet food needs
Those with no job opportunities or low household income are unable to meet their minimum food requirements

Apart from food insecurity, families with insufficient household income are unable to pay for their children’s education, health needs and more
Many relocate to find work
Low levels of education and a lack of livelihood skills have caused many to move away from home to work as daily wage workers

Nutritious food cost more. Those who cannot afford it suffer from malnutrition
