30-Hour Famine

WORLD FOOD DAY

One out of every ten people in the world suffers from hunger. Hunger can drive people to desperation, and in order to survive, they may choose to sacrifice anything– even their dignity. Many people think that hunger can be eliminated simply by giving the hungry something to eat; in fact, it is often necessary to address many root problems to help people escape the chains of hunger for good!

Food is survival. We know that everyone deserves food, but for the first time in over a decade, global hunger is on the rise. It’s a crisis that has worsened due to the impact of COVID-19, climate change and conflict on vulnerable communities around the world.  And as always, children are often the ones who suffer most.

811 million people went hungry in 2020.
(UN Food and Agriculture Organisation)
6 out of 10 of KL’s low-income families are unable to purchase food for themselves.

Food doesn’t just mean full stomachs – having access to it can also give people the strength, energy and courage to face life’s challenges as they come!

Food Full of Heart
Indeed, preparing tasty, nutritious meals for the people you love is a daily source of joy! In conjunction with World Food Day, we’re teaming up with Supporting Celebrities Phoebe, Daniel, Min, and Wayne for a culinary charity event called ‘Food Full of Heart’! Together, we’ll be cooking up 100 orders of food to raise funds for children and communities in need.

From 3 to 12 December, you can register and make a donation to participate in this special event; we’ll arrange for a courier service to deliver your dish straight to your door on 18 December! Funds raised will be directed to the 30-Hour Famine Fund, which will help children and families in need (at home and abroad) to overcome the food challenges they face.
Here’s why these Celebrities are taking part in ‘Food Full of Heart’...
Phoebe
I grew up feeling sad when I saw others going hungry, so I often keep lots of food in my bag. Sharing makes me feel joyful! Although times have progressed, I see that there are still children and families facing poverty and hunger. As human beings, shouldn’t we help each other more? I think that everyone is able to help others. It’s not about wealth; the heart to share with others should be a part of us.
Daniel
I support this event because I feel that there are more than enough resources on the planet to help people in need if we are willing to share. We have all endured a lot during the pandemic! I want to urge everyone to reach out and help each other, because we are all one big family.
Min
I like to share food with people. I think that food is not just for feeding the hungry; food prepared with care has a certain ‘warmth’ to it that the people who eat it can also feel. The issue of poverty and hunger should not be ignored, so do what you can to help those in need, and be happy to do good. Let’s share our warmth with others!
Wayne
I think that it is my duty to do good deeds as long as it is within my ability. I hope that through this event, I can share my love with others; I hope that everyone will respond to it warmly as well, so that more children and families can get the help they need.

Food is More Than a Meal, it is survival. It’s filled with love, touches the children and communities we serve, and warms the hearts of the people around us!
